Pulp Empire and Metahuman Press are proud to announce an open proposal call for our next three pulp anthologies! Like our last announced book, Presidential Pulp, we are looking for potential writers for these anthologies to send us a two to four paragraph synopsis of their 10,000 word story. If you have written a story for Pulp Empire before, that is all that needs to be sent. If you haven’t worked with us before, also attach a past short story so we can get an example of your work.

We will accept proposals for each of these anthologies over the next month (with a planned final deadline of May 15). Once we have six stories selected for each of the books, we will then announce the books closed. However, if response is strong enough, we may schedule sequel volumes.

Modern Gods will feature tales of ancient gods from Norse, Roman, Greek, Celtic or Egyptian mythology as they either are reborn or come to visit the modern world. However they get here, their adventures should promise lots of adventure around the world. Two volumes are already planned for this title. The first volume features characters from any pantheon, while volume two will exclusively feature Greek characters. The final story deadline for Volume 1 is July 15. Volume 2 has a final story deadline of September 30.

Spy World features modern set tales of agents of international espionage. The stories for this tale should be grounded in reality, but the more stylized reality of spies like Jason Bourne, James Bond, or Sydney Bristow. Fast, hard plots should be in store here, but try to keep any stories to a PG-13 level of sex and language. The final story deadline is August 15.

Supernatural West is an anthology that combines classic western pulp tales with elements of the supernatural. Whether those elements are vampires, werewolves, zombies or demons—or something straight out of the mind of H.P. Lovecraft—is up to the individual writers. Again, we want fast-paced tales for this one. The final story deadline is August 31.

In addition, Metahuman Press also has its first anthology in the works under the same rules. I Was a Teenage Superhero tells tales of exactly that: teenage superheroes. We want stories of teenagers learning to use their powers, told from a first person perspective. All stories should be set in the time period between the 1940s and the present day and obviously feature only original creations or public domain heroes.  The final story deadline is September 15.

All proposals should be emailed to submissions@pulpempire.com.

Remember, we will accept stories for these books on a first come, first serve basis, so if you’re interested in any of these books, get your proposals written!

We will be announcing new books very soon to close out the year’s releases at Pulp Empire and Metahuman Press!
