Guardians

This series of tales, part of the Justice trilogy, is excerpted from the ongoing adventures of the Guardians. The Guardians, headquartered in New York City, is the premiere team of superheroes in this world. This particular superhero world has been around since the mid-1970s and is Thomas Fortenberry's oldest and most written about heroverse. At the time of these stories, a cosmically-powered supervillain, Justice, has awakened from a long coma and broken free of confinement. In the process he destroyed a high-security meta-penitentiary, freeing a host of super-powered villains. The Guardians are trying to contain the disaster while a ragtag group of the freed villains have rallied around Justice to destroy the heroes once and for all.
